In his videos, he teaches the single-lure inshore slam, essential Florida lure selection, and the tidal and seasonal reads that come from a lifetime on the same water.

About Instructor
Some guides learn a piece of water over a career. William Toney was born into his. A Homosassa, Florida native and a fourth-generation fishing guide, Toney comes from a family of watermen and conservationists who have worked the Nature Coast for generations, passing down knowledge of every stretch, pass, creek, and key. That inheritance, refined by his own decades on the water, is what makes him one of the best inshore guides Florida has produced.
Toney owns and operates Homosassa Inshore Fishing, running a customized 23-foot Tremblay flats boat, and he targets the species that define the Gulf coast: redfish, seatrout, snook, mangrove snapper, and tarpon. He is a full-time Coast Guard licensed guide and a member of the Homosassa Guide's Association, and he is also the host and part-owner of In The Spread, which puts him at the center of what we do.
What makes Toney exceptional is how he reads the water. He understands tides better than almost anyone, and he ties seasonal migration, sun angle, and structure together into a picture of where fish will be and when. He is at his sharpest on seatrout through the winter-to-spring transition, when most anglers struggle to predict the bite. He is a river rat and an osprey at once. He knows the water, and his instincts are razor sharp.
He is also a natural teacher. Toney has an easygoing way that makes complicated things simple, whether he is working with a seasoned angler or a family that has never held a rod. That patience carries straight into his instruction.
In his In The Spread videos, Toney shows the depth behind the ease. He catches an inshore slam of seatrout, redfish, and snook on a single DOA jig combo, breaks down the handful of lures that actually earn a place in a Florida tackle box, and shares the tidal and seasonal reads that come from a lifetime on the same water. Learn from him and you learn Homosassa the way only a Toney can teach it.
